The Friends of Caldicott (FoC) truly pulled out all the stops this Christmas, transforming the school into a wonderfully festive setting enjoyed by staff, boys and visitors throughout December. Beautiful decorations adorned the school, crowned by the magnificent Christmas tree in the Front Hall by the main staircase, which became a much-admired focal point and set the scene for a host of festive celebrations.
For the first time ever, our annual St Nicholas Concert was thoughtfully synced with a Chapel service and a festive parent event, giving the entire Caldicott community a joyful and timely push into the Christmas spirit. The Chapel Service provided the perfect start to proceedings, with the Vicar of Stoke Poges Church sharing the meaning of Christingle and reflecting on how it brings families and communities together in such a special way.
Following the service, drinks and canapés were enjoyed in the beautifully decorated Front Hall ahead of our performers’ outstanding showing at the St Nicholas Concert. The Centenary Hall was then speedily transformed for our inaugural Christingle, Jingle, Mingle evening, where parents and staff came together to enjoy impressive charcuterie and grazing boards (alongside a well-earned festive drink!). Our 6th Form helpers played a key role in assisting with serving, adding to the wonderful sense of community.
Sparkly festive outfits, lively conversation and a warm atmosphere ensured the event truly lived up to its name. Guests were also able to enjoy last-minute Caldicott Christmas gifts, including the infamous mini rugby ball and much-loved Caldicott apple juice, as well as a magnificent raffle, all helping to raise vital funds for FoC projects. Carols Around the Tree for Boarders’ Night provided another magical moment, making full use of the stunning festive setting created by FoC.
An enormous thank you goes to Karen, Chair of FoC, the FoC committee and staff for their tireless work in bringing these events together and creating such special moments. Thank you also to everyone who attended and supported FoC this year, whether by donating food, buying a drink, shopping from our smart merchandise, purchasing raffle tickets, donating prizes, helping with set-up and organisation, or being one of our Caldicott boys who helped serve canapés.
Events like these are what make our community so special, and FoC’s efforts this Christmas truly brought everyone together. A huge thank you to all for your generosity, time and support in helping raise funds for FoC projects this year.
