Can you tell us about your journey from school to securing a music deal?

It hasn't been a straight line I can tell you that. I remember producing beats on Caldicott school computers which was definitely the start. Since then I attended many schools and would collaborate with others wherever I could. I ended up meeting Matt my music partner in music college. We never intended on getting a record deal which is the best part, he simply remixed a song of mine which we ended up playing at an event and a label A&R (Artists and repertoire) happened to come up to us in that moment with a business card. It was all by chance and nothing was planned.

Looking back, what role did Caldicott play in shaping your love for music?

I love how much Caldicott respects the arts. We all know Caldicott has a rich sport history which we are all proud of, but it just as important to embrace the artistic side of us all. I remember entering poetry competitions at school, performing in the theatre which at the time felt like the O2 and producing on school computers with friends. No matter what the outlet was, these were all fueling my desire for music which was so important.

Was there a particular moment when you felt, “This is really happening”?

Two moments stick out. We played our first ever music festival in 2024. Started with four people in the crowd. Four. I could have a chat with them if I wanted to. Our manager was practically in tears backstage. An hour and a half later we left the stage with 3,500 people in the crowd. I myself did cry afterwards and the flight home I remember staring out the window the whole time watching the sun come up and just thinking about how crazy our night had been.

The other was when we went to Dim Mak for the first time to meet with the president of the label for half an hour. Two hours later we left with a record deal. The music industry can be tough.

What challenges have you faced, and how have you overcome them?

I think something I'm learning is to remain the naive music producer/dj. I'm trying not to get caught up in the management side of things. My job is still to make the best art I can and perform it. With the business side of the industry comes stress, like anything with money involved. Time management is also something I'm trying to get down. Balancing personal relationships with shows, studio time and networking is a lot.

What's been the highlight of your career so far?

Recently I played at Exchange night club in LA at the opening doors slot and the room ended up filling up with hundreds of our fans who got there early just to see us. Meeting them after and taking pics with them was so surreal. I see numbers online but it's hard to imagine real people behind them. I'm still getting used to that feeling but it's so fulfilling!

What advice would you give to young OCs who might want to pursue music?

People will tell you what to do and what not to do, people will judge you, people will talk about you. I know this because I experienced it. I nearly stopped music at 15 years old because I was getting bullied for it. I am the happiest I've ever been right now. It took 12 years of trying to have my “first year”. I never truly believed in myself until I did. When I did, and when I stopped caring about what others think I really started to shine. So go for it, and be yourself. Believe in yourself and put the hours in! Id love to hear some music from the boys any time. Maybe we will share a stage together one day!

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

The only person that needs to believe in you, is yourself.
